Freight Technologies (Nasdaq: FRGT) has shocked both the logistics and cryptocurrency markets with its unauthorized treasury investment—investing millions of dollars into the politically-themed Trump Token (TRUMP). In a bold combination of politics and technology, the Houston-based logistics company has committed $1 million to this token, with a total of $20 million earmarked through a convertible bond agreement signed on April 29, 2025.
TRUMP Tokens into Corporate Treasury
CEO Javier Selgas stated that this investment aligns with Fr8Tech's mission to optimize U.S.-Mexico trade through advanced technology. He claimed that the TRUMP token reflects the ideals of "free and fair trade," values that are crucial to the company's logistics model. Fr8Tech's flagship products—Fr8App and Fr8Now—leverage AI to connect freight transportation with carriers in real-time.
Selgas stated in a recent declaration: “We view digital assets like TRUMP and FET as iconic and practical tools for innovation.”
Industry experts react
Cryptocurrency analysts are divided. Some view this as a PR gamble on a volatile memecoin, while others believe it is a test signal for mainstream tokens in the public sector.
Liam Harper, a blockchain strategist at DLT Advisors, said: "Despite the risks, Fr8Tech could lead the way in using tokenized assets to link branding, ideology, and treasury innovation."
The company has not disclosed the exact utility of the TRUMP token in its ecosystem, but sources suggest the possibility of integration with supply chain tokenization or user incentive models.
What does this mean for public companies and Web3?
Fr8Tech’s double bet on AI and political tokens could encourage other mid-cap companies to explore alternative treasury models, especially as regulatory clarity improves in the U.S. under the Trump administration.
This approach could reshape how companies position themselves ideologically when engaging in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. If this strategy proves effective, TRUMP and FET could serve as speculative assets and strategic signals for investors, partners, and users.
