【US Judge Rules Apple Cannot Charge Commission on Purchases Outside of App Store, Apps Can Now Directly Sell NFTs】On May 2, news reported by The Verge states that Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled in the Epic Games vs. Apple case that Apple cannot charge fees for purchases made outside of the app, effective immediately. The ruling prohibits the company from restricting developers from guiding users to make purchases outside of the app. Apple has announced it will appeal the ruling. Epic Games will relaunch Fortnite on the US App Store 'next week.' Additionally, according to Apple's developer announcement, the App Review Guidelines have been updated to comply with the US court ruling regarding buttons, external links, and other calls to action in apps. Guideline 3.1.1 indicates that apps can use in-app purchase features to sell and provide services related to non-fungible tokens (NFTs), such as minting, listing, and transferring. Besides apps in the US store, apps must not include buttons, external links, or other calls to action that guide users to purchase mechanisms outside of in-app purchases. Crossmint, a cryptocurrency API development company, commented that this ruling is significant for cryptocurrency: applications can now directly sell NFTs, tokens, and digital assets, retaining 100% of their revenue.
