Total losses recorded throughout April reached USD 364 million or equivalent to IDR 6.04 trillion, an increase of more than 1,100% compared to March, which only recorded losses of USD 28.8 million.
Losses due to hacking and fraud in the cryptocurrency world skyrocketed in April 2025, driven by one major incident of Bitcoin theft worth nearly USD 331 million or equivalent to IDR 5.4 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 16,613 per US dollar).
According to Cointelegraph, Friday (2/5/2025), based on a report from blockchain security company CertiK, the total losses recorded throughout the month reached USD 364 million or equivalent to IDR 6.04 trillion, an increase of more than 1,100% compared to March, which only recorded losses of USD 28.8 million.

The most prominent incident was the theft from an elderly individual from the United States who lost 3,520 Bitcoins worth about USD 330.7 million. In this case, the perpetrator managed to take control of the victim's wallet using very sophisticated social engineering techniques.
