Private Instant Verified Transaction (PIVX) is a decentralized open-source cryptocurrency focused on privacy. This cryptocurrency was launched on February 1, 2016, under the name Darknet (DNET) before being professionally rebranded to PIVX. The initial Proof of Work (PoW) distribution phase ended in August 2016 when DNET transitioned to the current Proof of Stake (PoS) phase.
PIVX operates on the Blackcoin PoS 2.0 protocol and uses the Bitcoin core 0.10.x codebase. This currency leverages a master node network for decentralized governance that is visibly open and enhanced transaction privacy.
The main goal of PIVX is to achieve nearly instant private transactions and governance that helps maintain the network for the benefit of all involved users. Although we are on the right track to achieve this, some features are still under development and are expected to be available soon.
