#StablecoinPayments The project of cryptocurrency digital identity World, formerly Worldcoin, by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, has debuted in six cities in the United States.

The project, which aims to verify humans in the era of artificial intelligence, is initially reaching what it calls the "key innovation hubs" of Atlanta, Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, and San Francisco, according to an announcement on April 30.

World offers a cryptocurrency, Worldcoin (WLD), to those who verify their identity with its spherical device called Orb, which scans the user's face and eyes.

The company had previously avoided launching in the U.S. due to regulatory concerns about offering a token, fears that are now seemingly dissipated given that the Trump administration is favorable to cryptocurrencies.

The scanning data from World’s orb can be used to create a World ID on the company’s platform, which aims to verify that a user is human and can be used to verify with other platforms, including Minecraft, Reddit, Telegram, Shopify, and Discord.

The company has faced scrutiny from regulators and many jurisdictions have probed World over privacy issues. Some countries, such as Spain and Portugal, have suspended World’s activities due to its data collection practices.
