Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has shared his ambitious roadmap for Ethereum in 2025. With $ETH

H currently trading at 1,780.8 (-2.23%), Buterin aims to strengthen both the technical and social foundations of the network.

In a recent blog post, Buterin highlighted his top priorities for the year—focusing heavily on Ethereum’s$ETH Layer 1 long-term roadmap. His key areas of work include innovations such as single-slot finality, long-term virtual machines, statelessness, and enhancing security, decentralization, and resilience of the blockchain.

This renewed focus comes at a time when Cardano has surpassed Ethereum in developer activity, putting added pressure on Ethereum’s $ETH evolution.

Buterin stressed the importance of full-stack security, privacy, and decentralization, emphasizing the need for a system free of centralized intermediaries. His vision includes making Ethereum secure and private at every layer—from wallets to decentralized apps.

Beyond the protocol itself, Buterin is also investing thought into broader initiatives he calls “big-picture d/acc”—which involve building communication tools, social and information layers, governance mechanism design, and funding for public goods and open-source development.

He also pointed to emerging fields like cryptography, operating systems, hardware, infrastructure, and biodefense as areas of growing interest—while acknowledging that in some domains, other contributors are leading the charge.
