The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has delayed its decision on whether to approve two proposed cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that include Dogecoin and XRP.
Specifically, the SEC has extended the review period for Franklin Templeton’s spot XRP ETF filing, setting a new deadline of June 17, 2025.
The Franklin XRP Fund is among several crypto ETF applications currently under evaluation, alongside proposals involving Ethereum, Dogecoin, and Solana.
According to a Bloomberg analyst, the delay appears to be procedural and not indicative of an impending rejection, similar to the review process seen before the approval of Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs.
Following the announcement, XRP’s price fell below $2.30, marking a 3% decline on the day.
