➡️Abu Dhabi is preparing to launch a dirham-pegged stable coin, marking a significant step in its digital finance strategy. Three major entities—sovereign wealth fund ADQ, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), and International Holding Company (IHC)—are collaborating on the project, pending regulatory approval.
↪️The UAE Central Bank will oversee the stable coin, ensuring legal compliance and stability. Issued by FAB, the digital currency will operate on the ADI blockchain, supporting advanced applications like AI and machine-to-machine transactions.
↪️ This follows the December 2024 launch of AE Coin, the UAE’s first dirham-backed stablecoin. In August 2024, Tether also announced plans for an AED stablecoin. These initiatives strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for blockchain innovation and digital assets.
