This is why Wall Street will dive headfirst into cryptocurrency in 2025.

With Donald Trump returning to the presidency and supporting cryptocurrency policies, the digital asset sector is experiencing a huge surge in transactions unlike anything seen in previous years.

Venture capitalist Chamath Palihapitiya recently highlighted the boom, reporting that mergers, acquisitions, and public listings in the U.S. crypto space have already reached $8.2 billion across 88 deals—three times the total value recorded in 2024.

This surge is driven by several factors. Firstly, corporations no longer view Bitcoin as a speculative play; it is becoming a strategic asset. Companies like Twenty One Capital are copying MicroStrategy's approach, loading their balances with Bitcoin and treating it as a core financial strategy.

The adoption of cryptocurrency by Wall Street is also accelerating. The acquisition of blockchain company Securrency by Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) signals a shift towards the integration of crypto services with traditional investments, simplifying retail investors' access to them from a single platform.

Institutions are also strengthening their involvement. Ripple's acquisition of Metaco reflects the growing demand for platforms that can securely store and manage digital assets in accordance with strict regulatory standards.

At the same time, cryptocurrency exchanges are consolidating. Kraken's purchase of futures broker NinjaTrader for $1.5 billion indicates a future where investors can trade stocks, cryptocurrencies, and much more without switching platforms.

Meanwhile, collaboration among blockchain projects is gaining momentum. Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol, and SingularityNET are joining forces for faster scaling, strengthening community, and increasing token value—a clear signal that alliances are becoming vital in competitive DeFi.

If we take a step back, the overall picture becomes clear: the walls separating traditional finance and cryptocurrency are crumbling. If current trends persist, 2025 could be the year when cryptocurrency finally becomes an integral part of the global financial system, rather than just a playground for early adopters.
