Finding AirDrop Files:
1. Check the app:
Files sent via AirDrop are often automatically saved to the app they were sent from. For instance, photos from the Photos app go to the Photos app.
2. Mac Downloads folder:
On a Mac, files you've received through AirDrop will typically be saved in the Downloads folder.
3. Files app (iPhone/iPad):
Some items may also be saved in the Files app on your iPhone or iPad.
4. Accept the AirDrop:
Make sure to tap "Accept" on the AirDrop notification to save the file. If you're sending between your own Apple devices and signed into the same Apple ID, the item is automatically accepted and saved.
5. Check Control Center/Settings:
Ensure Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are enabled.
In Control Center, AirDrop should be set to "Everyone" or "Contacts Only".
You can also adjust the AirDrop settings in Settings > General > AirDrop.
If you're not signed in with your Apple ID on your device, the AirDrop receiving setting will revert to "Off" after 10 minutes.
For devices running iOS 10 or later, you can choose the "Contacts Only" option, but it might require you to adjust the AirDrop settings to "Everyone" while using it and then back to "Contacts Only" or "Off" when finished.
6. Check for red badge:
If there's a red numbered badge on the AirDrop button, it means there are multiple devices nearby that you can share with, according to Apple Support.
7. VPN interference:
If you're using a VPN, ensure its configuration doesn't prevent local networking, as that can interfere with Continuity features like AirDrop, according to Apple Support.
