The death toll from the explosion in Iran rises to 65

The fire, which occurred in the coastal city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan province, has not yet been extinguished, according to the governor.

The massive explosion that took place on Saturday at Iran's largest commercial port, resulting in 65 fatalities, was caused by "negligence," said Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni on Monday (28.04.2025).

"The culprits have been identified and summoned," the official told state television, adding that the explosion was caused by "deficiencies, including failure to comply with safety precautions and negligence."

The explosion, heard for dozens of kilometers around, occurred at Shahid Rajai port, through which one-fifth of the world's oil production and 85% of goods in Iran pass.
