El Salvador continues to buy Bitcoin despite IMF's request to stop
According to Cointelegraph, despite the International Monetary Fund (IMF) requesting a halt, El Salvador continues to purchase Bitcoin. The Salvadoran Ministry of Finance bought 7 Bitcoins worth over $650,000 within seven days before April 27.
Rodrigo Valdes, director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Department, stated that El Salvador is still adhering to the agreement to stop government Bitcoin accumulation. The IMF's agreement may allow the purchase of Bitcoin through non-government entities.
Blockchain consultant Anndy Lian pointed out that this flexible interpretation allows El Salvador to maintain a Bitcoin-friendly image while securing IMF funds to address public debt and reserve issues.
