🇺🇸 U.S. Tariffs on Pakistani Exports

The United States has imposed a 29% tariff on Pakistani exports, citing a significant trade surplus. However, the implementation of this tariff has been temporarily paused for 90 days to allow for negotiations .

In response, Pakistan is exploring measures to mitigate the impact:

Increasing Imports from the U.S.: Pakistan plans to import more goods such as crude oil, cotton, soybeans, and other commodities to reduce the trade imbalance and seek tariff relief .

Negotiations with the U.S.: A high-level committee has been formed to address the tariff issue, and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has indicated efforts to remove non-tariff barriers and encourage U.S. investment in sectors like mining and minerals .
