This high dominance level suggests that Bitcoin is currently outperforming altcoins, often reflecting a market preference for the relative stability and established reputation of Bitcoin, especially during periods of uncertainty. Historically, such dominance levels have preceded shifts where altcoins begin to gain traction, a phase commonly referred to as "altcoin season." Bitcoin Dominance (BTC.D) BTC dominance is the percentage of the total crypto market cap that belongs to Bitcoin. When BTC.D rises, Bitcoin is outperforming altcoins. When BTC.D falls, altcoins are outperforming Bitcoin. As of now (April 2025), BTC dominance is hovering around 53-55%, showing Bitcoin is leading the market — typically this happens in early bull phases or during uncertainty. --- 2.
