The Supreme Court recently dismissed a petition seeking guidelines from the court to prevent and punish fraudulent transactions related to cryptocurrency, exercising its jurisdiction under Article 142 of the Constitution.
A bench of Justices B.R. Gavai and A.G. Masih passed this order. After reading the petition, the bench believed that the prayers made fall within the jurisdiction of the legislature and the executive. However, the bench gave the petitioners the option to represent before the appropriate authority. The bench stated that if they wish to do so, a decision will be taken in accordance with the law.
