U.S. policy is not convenient for anywhere in the world, says Lula
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated on Tuesday that the international trade policy adopted by the United States is not good for either Americans or "anywhere in the world".
Lula also defended, in statements upon arriving at the Itamaraty for a lunch with Chilean President Gabriel Boric, the importance of multilateralism and the need to sit at the table to negotiate "no matter how difficult it may be".
Lula's statements come at a time when U.S. President Donald Trump has been imposing import tariffs on other countries, including Brazil and especially on China.
Shortly before, at the Palácio do Planalto, Lula stated that he does not wish for Brazil to be involved in a new Cold War and to have to choose between the United States or China.
Lula also mentioned that Brazil must assume the role of a leader given its importance and size in Latin America.
