#TRXETF | Canary Capital’s Bold Move Toward Staking-Enabled Crypto Funds

On April 18, 2025, Canary Capital filed with the U.S. SEC for the Canary Staked TRX ETF—the first U.S. ETF proposal offering spot exposure to Tron (TRX) alongside staking rewards. Targeting an estimated 4.5% annual yield, the fund will use BitGo as custodian and third-party providers for staking operations. TRX surged over 12% following the news, with Tron founder Justin Sun calling it a “giant leap.” The proposal tests the SEC’s boundaries, as staking features were previously removed from other ETF filings. If approved, this could redefine the path for altcoin-based, yield-generating ETFs in U.S. markets.
