SEC Postpones Ruling on Permitting Staking in Spot Ethereum ETFs

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has postponed its decision on allowing staking in the Grayscale Ethereum Trust ETF and the Grayscale Ethereum Mini Trust ETF until June 1. The NYSE had proposed a rule change in February on behalf of Grayscale that would enable staking for these products.

Staking would offer investors the opportunity to lock up the spot ETH supporting the fund for additional yields. This decision follows the SEC's approval of options trading for several spot Ethereum ETFs from different funds last week.

Despite these developments, Ethereum prices remain low, and Ether ETFs in the US have seen five consecutive days of outflows. Meanwhile, Canada prepares to launch spot Solana ETFs this week, and US crypto exchange Kraken is expanding into stocks and ETF trading.
