Payment services provider PayPal has announced the inclusion of Solana (SOL) and Chainlink (LINK) tokens in the list of cryptocurrencies for users.
They can transact with them directly within the PayPal and Venmo apps.
The service continues to deepen its integration with cryptocurrencies.
PayPal has announced an expanded offering for users to buy, sell, hold, and transfer Solana (SOL) and Chainlink (LINK) directly within the PayPal and Venmo apps.
PayPal explained that the addition of new tokens meets user demand and demonstrates “a commitment to the development of the digital economy.”
“Increasing the number of tokens on PayPal and Venmo means more flexibility, choice, and access to cryptocurrency for our customers, giving them more options to buy, send, or spend in our secure PayPal and Venmo wallets,” said May Zaban, vice president of product, blockchain, cryptocurrency, and digital currencies at the company.
Let's remember that PayPal started supporting Bitcoin, Litecoin, and Ethereum back in 2020, and then expanded its functionality to Venmo.
In 2023, the company launched its own stablecoin PYUSD on Ethereum, and later on Solana. In September 2024, PayPal and Venmo integrated the Ethereum Name Service domain name protocol.
In addition, in October 2024, the service carried out the first B2B transaction in PYUSD, paying for the services of the audit firm Ernst Young.
PayPal and Venmo have also integrated payment solutions from MoonPay, allowing you to buy cryptocurrencies using your bank account or card.
It should be noted that the payment service provider has allowed business account holders to conduct transactions with cryptocurrencies since last year.#PowellRemarks #CryptoAdoption
