Narrated Ibn Umar: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr obligatory during Ramadan, which is one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley, for every free person or servant, male or female among the Muslims, and he commanded that it be paid before the people go out for the prayer." (Sahih Bukhari: 1503, Sahih Muslim: 984)
Translation: Abdullah bin Umar رضي الله عنه reports that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made Zakat al-Fitr obligatory, which is one Sa' of dates or one Sa' of barley, for every free person, servant, man, woman, child, and adult among the Muslims. And he ﷺ commanded that this (charity) be paid before the Eid prayer.
