U.S. Congressman Proposes Bill to Secure Bitcoin Reserve Policy
According to Odaily, U.S. Congressman Byron Donalds plans to introduce legislation to formalize a recent executive order by U.S. President Donald Trump. This order aims to establish a strategic Bitcoin reserve and a U.S. digital asset reserve. If passed, the bill would ensure the policy remains intact, preventing future presidents from overturning it through executive orders.President Trump's executive order mandates the U.S. Treasury to create a Bitcoin reserve, holding approximately 200,000 Bitcoins. It also authorizes the Treasury and the Department of Commerce to develop 'budget-neutral' strategies to further increase the Bitcoin reserve. Additionally, the order establishes a Treasury digital asset reserve to store current and future digital assets acquired through criminal or civil asset forfeiture, explicitly prohibiting the sale of Bitcoin from the reserve.
