$XRP
XRP is a digital asset created by Ripple Labs to facilitate fast, low-cost cross-border payments. Unlike Bitcoin, which relies on mining, XRP uses the XRP Ledger (XRPL), a decentralized blockchain that confirms transactions in 3–5 seconds with minimal fees.
XRP is designed to serve financial institutions, enabling seamless international transactions through RippleNet, which banks and payment providers use for liquidity and settlement. Its total supply is 100 billion XRP, with Ripple holding a significant portion in escrow.
While XRP has faced legal challenges, including a lawsuit from the U.S. SEC over its classification as a security, it remains a major cryptocurrency, widely traded and used for real-world financial applications.
