Inauguration Effect? Bitcoin Whales Accumulate As Trump Era Begins
Bitcoin (BTC) has traded between $101,000 and $110,000 since Donald Trump's inauguration on January 20th. According to a recent CryptoQuant research, Bitcoin ‘whales’ are discreetly acquiring the top cryptocurrency behind this regular price activity.
Major Bitcoin holders, known as Bitcoin ‘whales’, have resumed accumulation, according to the study. The monthly percentage rise of BTC holdings among these major investors has increased significantly.
Bitcoin whale holdings rose 2% on January 17, the biggest monthly growth rate since mid-December, from -0.25% on January 14. These investors had 16.4 million BTC on January 24, up from 16.2 million on November 4.
This Working Group must propose a federal cryptocurrency regulatory framework, including stablecoins, within six months. The panel will also consider a national digital asset stockpile, sparking suspicions of a US strategic Bitcoin reserve.
In addition to whale holdings, BTC selling pressure has dropped dramatically since December's profit-taking. Recent reports show that BTC profit-taking has slumped 93% from December's high. The report says:
Bitcoin holders made $10 billion everyday when Bitcoin neared $100K in December. However, daily realized gains fell to $2–3 billion in January, suggesting market players may have stopped selling Bitcoin.
The research also notes that Bitcoin spot demand has fallen over the previous month, creating doubts about another strong run. The pace of Bitcoin demand growth has dropped from 279,000 BTC in early December to 75,000 BTC now.
Bitcoin Analysts Expect Another Rally
Crypto experts expect another Bitcoin price boom despite decreasing on-chain demand. A recent analysis predicted BTC may reach $249,000 under Trump.
A Bitfinex research anticipated that BTC would reach $200,000 by mid-year despite slight price pullbacks.
BTC's cup-and-handle design suggests a $275,000 price goal. BTC is now $106,074, up 0.1% in 24 hours.
