Trump pardoned Ross Ulbricht
▶️ #news
🤗Donald Trump signed a decree to pardon Ross Ulbricht, the creator of the legendary darknet platform Silk Road, which became a turning point for our industry, popularizing $BTC as a means of payment.
▫️A bit of history:
• Silk Road was shut down in 2013 after Ulbricht's arrest;
• In 2015, Ulbricht was sentenced to two life terms plus 40 years;
• The site operated through the Tor network, where one could anonymously purchase illegal goods for $BTC;
• According to U.S. authorities, the platform's turnover exceeded $200 million;
• In 2015, a Manhattan court found Ulbricht guilty on a number of charges: drug distribution, involvement in a criminal enterprise, money laundering, forgery, and even computer hacking.
▫️On his social network Truth Social, Trump stated that he personally called Ulbricht's mother to inform her of her son's release.
He received two life sentences plus 40 years. This is absurd!
We also recommend watching the movie about Silk Road — "The Social Network." Besides being a quality thriller, it offers more insight into the "beginning" of crypto.
🗣️ What do you think, does Ross deserve a pardon?
