$ETH

Ethereum (ETH) is a decentralized blockchain platform that enables the creation and execution of smart contracts and decentralized applications (dApps). Launched in 2015 by Vitalik Buterin and others, Ethereum builds on the foundational concepts of Bitcoin but expands its capabilities beyond peer-to-peer transactions. It uses a native cryptocurrency called Ether (ETH) to facilitate transactions and power the network. Ethereum’s ability to run smart contracts, which are self-executing agreements, allows for a wide range of applications in finance (DeFi), gaming, supply chain management, and more. Ethereum has undergone major upgrades, notably transitioning to a proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus mechanism through the Ethereum 2.0 upgrade, improving scalability, security, and energy efficiency. Ethereum remains a leading platform in the blockchain space.
