Ghardaia: "Takrawit" ... a traditional drink that decorates the Iftar tables in Ramadan The Mzab community has beautiful, useful and socially nurturing customs and traditions that have been passed down through generations over the centuries and decades. It has preserved them with great care and defended them with great determination, and continues to do so for fear that they will melt away, disappear and become extinct due to the influence of external factors, such as development, progress, economy and globalization that transcends all borders.
From these customs, we learn today about the custom of presenting a locally prepared drink to the groom on his honeymoon, with a system, method and distinctive way known in all the villages of the Mzab Valley, like other customs, traditions, systems and behaviors.

Definition of (Takrouait) word:
The word (Takrouait) refers to two things:
1 - A container that the Mzabites make from the fruit of the gourd (a plant from the pumpkin family) and is known locally as (Takhsait). The container is prepared for use by leaving the fruit connected to its tree until it is fully ripe, completely dry and its peel hardens, then it is opened from the upper narrow side with a red-dyed husk and presented to the groom
