According to Odaily, former President Donald Trump has announced the appointment of William Joseph McGinley as an advisor to the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE). The department, led by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy, has begun sharing details about its operations, promising to assemble a team of small government reformers. DOGE has invited interested individuals to submit their resumes via direct message on its X account. Reports indicate that several Silicon Valley leaders, including investor Marc Andreessen and Uber co-founder Travis Kalanick, have been involved in planning the committee.
The co-heads of DOGE have expressed their ambition to reduce the federal budget by $2 trillion. In 2024, the total federal expenditure is projected to be $6.75 trillion, with 90% allocated to federal programs. In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, Musk and Ramaswamy outlined DOGE's operational strategy, stating their intention to leverage two Supreme Court rulings to assist Trump in rolling back regulations. However, legal experts have informed CNN that the duo may have misunderstood the Supreme Court cases, suggesting that some of the committee's initiatives could face legal challenges.
