According to TechFlow, former voting machine auditor Michal Pospieszalski warned that serious security vulnerabilities in the US election system discovered in 2006 have not yet been fixed. As CEO of MatterFi, he pointed out that voting machines lack end-to-end encryption proof and cannot prevent double counting of ballots or verify legitimacy. Pospieszalski suggested using David Chaum encryption technology to add anonymous serial numbers to ballots to ensure uniqueness without the need for complex blockchain technology. This improvement can be achieved through software upgrades, but legislation is needed to drive manufacturers to act. New York State has proposed a bill to study the application of blockchain technology in election security.
