According to Deep Tide TechFlow, blockchain intelligence company Elliptic has become a member of the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) to strengthen efforts to combat the funding of child sexual abuse material through cryptocurrency. According to the IWF's 2024 annual report, cryptocurrency is a commonly used payment method on child sexual abuse websites, with 518 out of 851 pages not hiding payment options supporting cryptocurrency transactions. This collaboration will allow Elliptic to access IWF's real-time virtual currency alert system to identify related payment networks and wallet addresses, helping clients block transactions related to child abuse.
