According to PANews, Slow Mist founder Yu Xian stated that the "fake Ledger" scam has resurfaced recently. Attackers are mailing users counterfeit Ledger devices along with fake instruction manuals, guiding users to input the recovery phrases from their real Ledger into a fraudulent application, resulting in asset theft. Such attack methods have been documented as early as 2021, with variants including pre-set recovery phrases or tampering with random number generators for fraud. Experts remind that although these physical-layer phishing attacks may seem rare, their success rate is not low, and the targets are often high-net-worth individuals.
