According to Cointelegraph, Christy Goldsmith Romero of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) will resign on May 31, leaving three vacant positions. She originally planned to leave after the Senate confirmed former commissioner Brian Quintenz as the new chairman.
Romero's departure will be one day apart from Commissioner Summer Mersinger's departure, who will join the Blockchain Association as CEO. Romero stated that ending 23 years of federal service is a tremendous honor.
The CFTC will be left with only two Senate-confirmed members: Acting Chair Caroline Pham and Commissioner Kristin Johnson. This leadership change provides President Trump the opportunity to nominate new commissioners.
