Following their meeting, they held a joint press conference to discuss topics related to U.S.-UK trade and cooperation. President Trump stated that the United States and the United Kingdom are negotiating a bilateral trade agreement. He expressed optimism about reaching a 'great trade deal' that would benefit both nations and indicated that efforts are underway to finalize the agreement soon.
Prime Minister Starmer mentioned that the two countries have begun working on a new economic agreement centered on advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence to strengthen trade relations. Regarding President Trump's recent threats to impose tariffs on other countries, he noted that he and Starmer discussed the potential U.S. tariffs on the UK. Starmer attempted to persuade Trump not to impose tariffs on the UK. Trump further stated that if a trade agreement is reached, there would be no need to impose tariffs on the UK.
