According to PANews, Perplexity introduced the Sonar API on January 21, enabling businesses and developers to integrate its generative AI search tools into their applications. Sonar offers real-time connectivity, sourcing answers from credible sources to enhance accuracy and authority. The API is available in two versions: the basic Sonar and the advanced Sonar Pro. The basic version is priced at $5 per 1,000 searches, with input and output costs of $1 per 750,000 words each. The Pro version charges $3 for input and $15 for output, supporting complex queries and additional references. Companies like Zoom have already adopted Sonar to provide real-time search support for their AI assistants, allowing users to access information without leaving the video conference window.
