According to PANews, Chainlink community liaison Zach Rynes issued a warning on the X platform about misinformation spreading within the XRP community. Rynes highlighted a scam involving fake KYC accounts from the Philippines impersonating the U.S. Treasury and issuing counterfeit tokens on the XRPL.

The fraudulent post about the U.S. Treasury's XRP wallet quickly gained traction, being shared by several popular X accounts. The fake wallet was alleged to have interacted with major institutions like Bank of America and JPMorgan. However, on-chain analysis revealed that the wallet was activated by a non-U.S. account based in the Philippines.

Rynes noted that while trained individuals can identify the red flags in such scams, addressing social media fraud of this nature remains challenging.
