According to Odaily, Irkutsk Energosbyt, a Siberian power company, has announced plans to sue approximately 400 'illegal' cryptocurrency miners. The company claims that these miners have illicitly extracted electricity worth $6.3 million from the state's power grid. Over the past five years, Irkutsk Energosbyt has filed 2,113 lawsuits against individual miners for 'illegal use of electricity for cryptocurrency mining.' The company is targeting so-called 'gray' miners who install mining equipment in unauthorized locations. Many of these miners have set up their operations in garages, private homes, apartment balconies, and garden plots, which could potentially lead to accidents on the transmission lines in the Siberian region.
