🔴 Common P2P Scams in Pakistan
1. Fake Payment Proof Scam
Scammer sends you a fake screenshot of a bank transfer or Easypaisa JazzCash payment.
In reality, no money is received.
👉 Risky places: Facebook Marketplace, OLX, WhatsApp groups.
2. Reversal Scam
Buyer pays you through mobile wallet or bank transfer.
After receiving goods, they reverse or dispute the payment by claiming fraud to the bank/wallet.
3. Overpayment Scam
The scammer “accidentally” sends extra money.
Asks you to refund the difference, but the original payment was fake or reversed.
4. Third-Party Payment Scam
Buyer tells you someone else (friend, "company account") will send payment.
Later, it turns out that account was hacked or stolen, and you get blamed.
5. Crypto P2P Scam
Scammer asks you to release crypto before payment is confirmed.
Sometimes they send money from fraudulent/stolen accounts, putting you at legal risk.
6. Phishing & Fake Apps
Fake JazzCash/Easypaisa/Bank apps or links used to steal login and OTP.
Victim shares OTP and loses full balance.
7. Courier / Delivery Scam
Scammer pretends to be from Pak Army / Govt department.
Insists on using "special courier service" with fake advance payment slips.
🛡 How to Stay Safe
✅ Always verify payment inside your own app (JazzCash, Easypaisa, Bank app). Never trust screenshots.
✅ Wait for SMS from the official number (not WhatsApp or random numbers).
✅ Avoid third-party payments – only accept from the buyer’s own verified account.
✅ For crypto trades: Only use trusted platforms like Binance P2P, never release until your bank confirms cleared funds.
✅ Never share OTP, PIN, or passwords with anyone—even if they claim to be from bank support.
✅ For physical goods: Prefer Cash on Delivery (COD). If online, confirm payment before handing over the product.
✅ Check for reversal risk: Some wallets allow reversals. With unknown buyers, use escrow or safer methods.
✅ If suspicious, stop the deal – scammers usually pressure you to hurry.
