Residents of the Dominican Republic reduced their preference for cash by 9.6% between 2019 and 2024
In 2019, between 65.5% and 62.9% of respondents in the Dominican Republic preferred to receive payments for their economic activities in cash; however, in the latest report of the National Survey of Financial Inclusion and Education (ENIEF), it was stated that only 54.1% expressed their desire to receive payments in this way. The results show a decrease in the preference for cash usage of 9.6%.

Furthermore, the report revealed that in the Dominican Republic there was an increase in the preference for receiving payments through payroll and savings accounts in financial institutions, either chosen by the employer (5.9%) or by the respondent themselves (3.0%), compared to the 2019 survey.
