I stumbled upon the good old wiki: it turns out Ripple was once called OpenCoin. Yes, back in the days when no one was joking about the SEC.

📜 OpenCoin scripts date back to 2006.
📌 Algorithm? The same SHA256 as Bitcoin.

Now — Bitcoin appeared in 2008 and was published in 2009.
