$BTTC What is BitTorrent (BTT)?
BTT is a TRC-10 utility token implemented on the TRON blockchain to power the most popular decentralized protocols and applications. Several dApps are powered by this token, such as DLive, BitTorrent Speed, BitTorrent File System and many others. Through strengthening and creating an open source community, BTT's goal is to enable and create the world's largest decentralized file sharing protocol.
Initially, this project was launched by Bram Cohen in 2001, but was acquired by the TRON blockchain in 2018. The native BTT token was launched a year later in 2019. Today, BitTorrent is still considered one of the largest decentralized P2P communication protocols of the world. Its initial purpose was to relieve and accelerate the entertainment industry, which was experiencing data overload.
Although this technology has been the target of criticism related to piracy, Cohen claims that there is nothing illegal about it, as users simply share content with each other. According to Bram Cohen, in this context the exchange of information must be quick and practical. Additionally, BitTorrent has premium features such as VPNs, no ads, and tracking protection.
With the BTT token, BitTorrent seeks to improve torrent file sharing by providing incentives and solving problems such as low download speeds and low file availability. By requesting files or speeding up their downloads, users can acquire and use BTT coins, while providers must receive and sell BTT as a form of compensation.
