🔥Someone lost $68 million dollars in a transaction by copying the wrong address from their history.
As illogical as this title may sound, it has happened and it is not the first time that this method of "deception" has been heard of. This attack is called a "dusting attack", in which cybercriminals mark victims' wallets through microtransactions.
In order for one to be able to send tokens from one wallet to another, generally what we need is the address of the other destination
#billetera , which for practical purposes, many times we only see the beginning and end of the string of numbers to verify that it is our wallet. This is recorded in our wallet history. This is where cybercriminals have set their sights.
With this in mind, what cybercriminals do is send microtransactions to our wallet with a "similar" address (same start and same end) to our destination wallet address, which makes us believe that the wallet is ours. So if we just look at the wallet history and copy that address, our money is sent to the cybercriminal's address.
This is how someone lost 1,155 WBTC (approximately $68 million dollars). Great care.
