The Wallet of Satoshi (WoS) team, known for the bitcoin wallet for the Lightning Network, began closed beta testing of a non-custodial version of the app in July 2025. This move, implemented in partnership with Lightspark, the developer of the Spark protocol, marks significant progress in providing users with complete control over their bitcoins. Unlike the previous custodial model, where private keys were stored by the provider, the new version allows users to manage their assets independently, enhancing security and autonomy.
