⚖️ Bitcoin vs Wikileaks: When Satoshi Said No
In 2010, whistleblowing site WikiLeaks came under financial blockade — Visa, Mastercard, and PayPal cut off donations after U.S. government pressure. In response, WikiLeaks turned to Bitcoin for support.
🧠 At the time, Bitcoin was still a niche, experimental technology. When WikiLeaks announced plans to accept BTC, the anonymous Bitcoin creator Satoshi Nakamoto posted on the forum:
"It would have been nice to get this attention in any other context. WikiLeaks has kicked the hornet’s nest..."
💨 Just days later, Satoshi disappeared, never to be heard from again.
💥 This moment is seen as the first major political test for Bitcoin — and may have contributed to Satoshi’s permanent exit. It also marked the beginning of BTC’s use as censorship-resistant money.
