After extending financial support to investors impacted by the collapse of the LIBRA token, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) has surprisingly received more crypto than he initially donated. LIBRA surged dramatically after Argentine President Javier Milei shared a post linking the token to his "Viva La Libertad" initiative, leading to a market cap exceeding $4 billion within hours. However, after Milei deleted the post, the token’s price plummeted by 91%, causing severe financial losses for over 40,000 investors—some of whom lost their life savings and tuition fees. The situation escalated further, with Milei now facing lawsuits and calls for impeachment, as he claims he was misled about the project’s true nature.
Unexpected Crypto Inflow to CZ’s Wallet
After making his donation, CZ publicly shared a BSCScan transaction report that revealed his wallet address. Following this disclosure, numerous users started sending crypto assets to his wallet, resulting in an influx surpassing the amount he had initially donated. In response, CZ reaffirmed that he would not keep “a single satoshi” and would allocate the excess funds to additional victims, specifically those affected by the TST and BROCCOLI token collapses.
Clarification on His Role
Despite the unexpected crypto accumulation in his wallet, CZ clarified that his actions should not be mistaken as an endorsement of any particular token. He distanced himself from the speculation surrounding his involvement with TST and BROCCOLI, emphasizing that his only intention was to support those affected by market volatility. His final remarks reiterated his commitment to philanthropy, ensuring that all funds received would be redirected to help investors in distress.
