Bellscoin community recently came together to raise over 110,793 BELLS (approximately $145,000) for Billy Markus, better known as the creator of Dogecoin. This effort, part of the "Make Billy Milly" campaign, is a nod to the history connecting these two coins, as Dogecoin itself was initially forked from Bellscoin. Bellscoin, which had been inactive since 2013, was revived in 2023, and its community is now stronger than ever, rallying around its roots to celebrate both Bellscoin and Dogecoin’s shared legacy.
The campaign featured the Suitboy Billy NFT Collection—10,000 unique PFPs available through the Nintondo Marketplace. This collection, inspired by the quirky style of "Animal Crossing," includes suit-wearing animal-like characters as a playful tribute to both Billy and the meme culture surrounding Dogecoin. With each NFT sold, fans added to the total amount raised, with a goal of 100,000 BEL already reached, and additional funds covering project expenses like marketplace fees and maintenance.
This donation is more than just a financial contribution; it represents Bellscoin’s community-driven commitment to its origins. While Dogecoin sits high in the market cap rankings, Bellscoin is back, bringing its own brand of enthusiasm to the crypto space and reminding the world of its unique place in memecoin history.
