The closely watched annual Consumer Price Index rose 3.2% last month, faster than estimates that it would remain at a 3.1% pace in January. The annual core number, which strips out volatile items like food and fuel, cooled to 3.8% from 3.9%, but was still slightly higher than forecasts of 3.0%. 7%.

Monthly, the overall consumer price index rose 0.4% in February, in line with expectations and faster than the 0.3% increase in January. The core gauge came in at 0.4%, in line with last month and slightly hotter than expectations of 0.3%.

Core CPI decreased but also higher than estimates!
