Can Google Willow quantum chip destroy
$BTC network?
Google dropped a bomb on Monday!
They launched a new quantum computing chip Google Willow, which made the whole world explode.
Everyone speculated whether this thing would cause a fatal blow to the BTC network?
To be honest, quantum computing and blockchain have always been a narrow road for so many years, which makes people worry.
But wait, let's talk about BTC's seed phrase. Bitcoin seed phrase is a list of 12 or 24 random words that can be used as the master key of the wallet.
These phrases are supported by elliptic curve cryptography (ECC) and hashing algorithms, which produce very complex mathematical problems that traditional computers cannot solve at all.
But quantum computers are different. They can use some special algorithms, such as Shor's algorithm, to easily solve these problems.
However, although Google Willow is now very powerful and has 105 quantum bits, it is still far from being able to solve BTC.
It is estimated that 1 million quantum bits are needed to crack the encryption of BTC. No matter how advanced the current quantum system is, it can't do anything to BTC.
But then again, this rumor still scared the BTC and altcoin markets. Quantum computers may pose a real threat to Bitcoin in the next 10 to 20 years.
By then, if quantum computers are powerful enough to crack BTC encryption, our wallets will be in danger.
Fortunately, BTC developers are not vegetarians. They are studying quantum-resistant encryption technology and plan to create new algorithms that even quantum computers can't do anything to it.
So although Google Willow is very powerful now, the BTC network is still secure.
But you have to be careful. If you want quantum chips to pose a real threat to BTC, you have to wait until they become cheap and easy to use. Whether BTC can withstand it by then depends on whether it is fully prepared.
