The event will bring together experts working on developing privacy protection technologies, alongside discussions of the political issues related to surveillance in financial markets.
Commissioner Hester Peirce stated that the roundtable aims to highlight the role of privacy-enhancing tools in empowering individuals to choose when and with whom they share their sensitive data.
She added: "Understanding recent developments in privacy protection tools will help the SEC and other regulatory bodies craft more effective policy solutions in the cryptocurrency space."
This move is part of the "Crypto Project" initiative launched by the SEC following the presidential executive order and the report from the task force on crypto assets.
Paul Atkins, Chairman of the SEC, emphasized that the initiative aims to update the regulatory framework for securities related to crypto and to enhance the United States' position as the "cryptocurrency capital of the world."
