A leveraged ETF is set to launch in the US
According to CoinDesk, the Volatility Shares 2x Ether Strategy ETF (ETHU) is set to become the first leveraged ether ETF available in the US. The company announced that trading will begin on June 4. The launch comes almost a year after the Volatility Shares 2x Bitcoin Fund began operations in June 2023. The spot Bitcoin ETF received approval from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and began trading about seven months later.
In a conversation with CoinDesk, Stuart Barton, chief investment officer at Volatility Shares, expressed that the company's success in gaining approval for Ethereum ETFs could pave the way for final approval for spot Ethereum ETFs. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved key regulatory filings related to spot funds last week, but has not yet given the green light for their launch.
Barton said that while many details about spot ETFs are likely currently being ironed out with the SEC, the launch of the 2x Ether ETF
