To make in-store payments, you’ll need to install the Binance app and the CryptoQR app on your device.

How to make payments with Binance Pay?

1. Open the CryptoQR app and follow the instructions to connect your Binance wallet.

2. When you're ready to pay for your purchases at a Pick n Pay store, ask the cashier to select the [Contactless QR] payment option (option 2) on the payment device.

3. Scan the payment QR code using the CryptoQR app.

4. CryptoQR will scan the QR code and open your Binance wallet to complete the payment.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How long does it take to complete a payment?

Almost all transactions are completed within a few seconds. If, for some reason, the transaction fails to complete, please wait 90 seconds from the time you selected [Contactless QR] for the system to reset.

2. Are there limitations to what can be purchased?

Some facilities are restricted, for example, you will not be able to get cash back at the till. You should be able to purchase most goods with crypto at Pick n Pay.

3. What are the purchase limits?

You can purchase from 10c to R 10,000.

4. Do I have to pay a transaction fee?

Transactions are free of charge.

5. Do I need mobile data to perform the transaction?

Yes, the transaction uses mobile data since the CryptoQR app and your Binance wallet must be connected to the internet. You’ll need mobile data or Wi-Fi access to complete the transaction.

6. I have a Binance wallet installed, how can I add a wallet balance?

You can find out how to buy and sell crypto using your cash balance here.

7. Why do I need to install the CryptoQR app?

The credit card terminals that you normally use at the point of purchase cannot process Binance Pay payments directly, but they support a more generic QR code that enables payment with various wallet payment mechanisms. The CryptoQR app translates that QR code into a format that your Binance wallet can open and pay.

8. Where can I get the CryptoQR app?

You can download it from the app store on your Android or iOS device.

9. What does the scanner app do besides scanning a QR code and retrieving a Binance Pay invoice?

The app is intended to do only that. It also lets you send us a support request containing an identifier that we can use to find your transaction.

10. Are there any fees for using the CryptoQR app?

We do not charge a fee to use the CryptoQR app.

11. What happens if something goes wrong after I send the payment?

If you take too long to complete the payment, or there is a system error before the transaction is completed, your funds will automatically be returned to your wallet after a timeout period. The point-of-sale system takes 90 seconds to reset. After that you can retry or use a different payment method.

12. What happens if I need to return some items for a refund?

Currently, you can not receive a refund in your Binance wallet. The store will handle the refund as if you paid using cash.

13. I noticed my items were scanned incorrectly, can I get refunded to my Binance wallet?

No, any returns or refunds are handled as cash transactions. Refunds in Binance wallet are not supported at this stage.

14. What happens if my phone’s battery die while I’m paying?

You’ll need to wait until the 90-second timeout period has passed to use a different payment method. If you completed the payment before your battery died, the point-of-sale will indicate that the transaction has been completed. If anything goes wrong, your funds are returned to you automatically.

15. Who do I contact for help?

You can request support within the CryptoQR app, or email [email protected].

16. Will I be able to see my payments on my bank statement? How do I track my spending?

The transactions will be visible on your Binance wallet.
