According to Deep Tide TechFlow, Kenya's Minister of Information and Communication Technology, William Kabogo, announced the launch of the national digital token KenyaNDT (KDT), which is deployed on the Solana blockchain.
Kabogo stated that Kenya is formulating virtual asset policies and a draft VASP bill to regulate digital asset oversight. Kenyan citizens' monthly digital asset trading volume has exceeded $500 million.
Although the central bank has not clarified the legal tender status of KenyaNDT, Kabogo clarified that the token is not directly issued by the government, but its objectives align with the national digital strategy. The government is negotiating with relevant agencies to advance regulatory compliance.
